Nora at Shire, circa 2005

Where is Shire Village Camp?

Shire Village Camp is located at Mellor Road, Cummington, MA 01026.

How do I get there?

The best way to get to Shire Village Camp is by car. GPS should get you there if you plug in the address above. There will be plenty of spaces to park when you arrive (follow the signs when you pull in for instructions!). We’ll also have a shuttle for anyone who doesn’t want to drive (see below).

Will there be a shuttle?

Yes! There will be a shuttle bus running between Northampton MA and the wedding venue before the ceremony as well as after.  There’s limited seating, so please let us know on the RSVP page if you’ll need to catch a ride to and/or from the ceremony.

What’s the nearest airport?

The closest airport is Bradley in Connecticut.

Is there a registry?

Yes, here’s a link.

What’s your approach to COVID-19 safety?

All guests must take a COVID-19 rapid test the day of the wedding. We'd prefer if you could source your own test and take it the day of the wedding. Someone will be checking in with everyone as they arrive at the wedding to make sure they’ve taken a test. If you can't source your own test, or if you forget, we'll provide you with one when you arrive at the wedding. Testing is non-negotiable. Thanks for understanding.

The ceremony and meal will take place outdoors, rain or shine (we’ll have a tent!).

You have questions. We have answers.

Is there a hotel block?

We have pre-booked rooms at a number of local hotels. Unfortunately, prices are higher this time of year.

Hotel Northampton has a block of rooms reserved. Guests are required to call hotel directly at 413-584-3100 and ask for the Miller and Clare Wedding Block.
Fairfield Inn & Suites in Northampton has a block of rooms reserved with a small discount, click here to book.
Upland Meadows Farm is a cute B&B in Cummington right near the wedding! Click here to book. They’re holding their four rooms until a month out from the wedding.

Can I stay somewhere cheaper?

Yes, almost certainly! Most places don’t offer hotel blocks so we were limited in our options. But there are plenty of local B&Bs, hotels, motels, treehouses, etc., so please feel free to search further afield.

Can I stay somewhere for free???

Yes! For the ~true summer camp wedding experience~, you can stay at Shire Village Camp on the night of June 17, where we’ll have three available cabins with limited space for people to stay in bunk beds. Each cabin houses around a dozen people, give or take. The beds are twin-sized bunk beds with thin mattresses. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow.

You can also bring your own tent and camp out at Shire Village. There will be bathrooms with showers, both for people in cabins and people in tents.

What awaits you

How do I book a bunk or campsite?

Let us know if you’re interested in staying in a bunk or camping on the RSVP form; we’ll get in touch to confirm your spot & with more details.

We’ll allot bunk spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ll make every effort to group people together who know each other, but if you have a group and want to all be placed together, chat ahead of time and let us know in the RSVP form.

What’s on the menu?

The wedding will be catered by Honey ‘n Schmaltz.

The food is going to be served buffet-style, so you’ll get to try everything! But to help our caterer get a sense for quantities, please let us know if you’d like the vegetarian main dish option when you RSVP.

Here are the main dishes, to help you choose:

Chicken: Grilled Chicken quarters with sumac and pomegranate, s’chug, Middle Eastern cilantro hot sauce, and labneh.
Steak: Top round sirloin asada with chimichurri and sundried tomato pistou.
Vegetarian: Grilled winter squash with spring herbs, young garlic oil, pinenuts, and tahini sauce, served over beluga lentils.

There will also be sides, deserts, cheese, a variety of alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, an aesthetically-complex cake, coffee, and a lot of strawberries.

Any questions about the food, or have specific dietary restrictions you’d like our caterers to be aware of?

Feel free to let us know in the RSVP form, or else get in touch here
